š Adding a Patient in LabCorp & Creating an Appointment
When a new patient signs up with besa Health a support team member or the Patients care manager will add the Patient into the LabCorp portal to help streamline order creation for all providers. This is part of the Patient review.
When creating the order, you will be creating the order while with the Patient. This way you can relay all pertinent information. At the same time you should be assisting the Patient in scheduling an appointment. The Patients are also able to walk in, but it would be a delight to schedule this for them. ā± Turnaround Time
For most standard orders, LabCorpās turnaround time is displayed right when you add the order in the system.
- If āPSCā is checked, it means the Patient will be going to a LabCorp Patient Service Center for collection.
- This helps set expectations for both staff and patients right from the start.
- Be sure to place order while with the Patient so you can let them know when the results will come in. Whether we are collecting their specimen (In-clinic), or they are going to a LabCorp location, this is important information for the Patient and should be added in the order notes of the EHR.

š© How to Spot Abnormal Results
LabCorp makes it hard to miss:
- Abnormal results are flagged in red or pink in the report.
- If itās highlighted, itās important ā always review and address promptly.Ā

š³ Using R2MSC ā The Miscellaneous Payer Code
If you canāt locate a patientās insurance in LabCorpās system:
- Use payer code R2MSC to submit the order.
- This acts as a placeholder until insurance info is updated.Ā

š Standing Orders for Recurring Labs
For patients needing regular labs (e.g., monthly checks):
- Set up standing orders in LabCorp so they can get tested without a new order each time.
- Standing orders help reduce admin work and keep patient care consistent. Care managers will help to ensure these orders are being placed and updated according to provider notes.Ā Ā

ā Editing or Cancelling Orders ā Know the Deadlines
- besa Health-collected samples (In-clinic): You can edit the order until 6 PM on the day of creation.
- After itās released, it cannot be edited or canceled.
- PSC (LabCorp site) collected: You can edit the order until the Patient checks in at the location.Ā
